My toe is broken.

Journal Entry: Sun Jul 13, 2008, 10:54 PM
I know no big deal, right? It's the first bone I have ever broke! i thought it would be much more painful. I guess if it was my arm or something it would have been. A giant rock fell on my foot at work, I guess my pinky toe took the worst of it.

Anyways, my 'Designing for Design Series' is just something I am doing for myself, to grow as an artist. I am not trying to please anyone. I am learning how I can create visually pleasing images using textures and whatever it takes through manipulation. My personal taste can be very minimal. I am doing what I like, I do not care if I don't get 20,000 views for producing bullshit like some artists do on here.

Leah and I are also looking for a house in the Zelie/Harmony area. Maybe we'll look into Koppel next, Jim. Anyways, buying a house is a big deal. I thought planning a wedding was stressful, but this is like signing your life away for the next 30 years. Not to mention my job gets slow in the winter. Anyways, wish us luck, and send us some fat checks if you feel like it, I'm not too proud. lol

Hope all is good with my school, art friends who I havn't talked to for a while!

So I kind of feel like I lead two separate lives as a musician and a visual artist. So here is a brave attempt to merge the two. For those of you who don't know, I play in a band called Zelico. But aside from that I do a little bit of solo work (which almost always ends up becoming a Zelico song after being on my solo page for a little while. Anyways, check it out if you have some time! [link] ... thats my solo stuff, which I just put a brand new song up on.

I've been working too much lately and not focusing my creative energy. Rolling paint on walls is not anything like painting on a canvas... no room for creativity (unless you want to piss off the homeowner's, lol.).

Basically, it's been a crazy week. I have two funerals to go to in the next two days. I think I may have to skip one for the other. So if my work seems a little gloomy, that should explain why.

I did a bunch of stuff tonight, the two recent posts are the only ones I wanted to put up though. The rest were not coming across how I wanted them. I actually put two of them up, then took them down right away because I changed my mind, haha.

I think since I really have not had a chance to paint as much as I would like (lack of studio), some of my painting techniques are starting to come across in my digital work. Which I think is a good thing... It will further the process of finding what works for me. The only thing is, in paintings I could have so much more value in the negative space, from brush strokes alone. But I did start to experiment with subtle texture changes, and I plan to investigate further into this technique. :)

Keep it real everyone, Mike.

I've been enjoying life lately. Although, I can't find a job in the art field, I'm enjoying working construction. I even get to paint somedays, which is always a real treat (even though the painting process is a little bit different).

As for art, I've been doing a lot lately. Trying new things. Some seem to be working well. A lot doesn't work well, too, but you'll have that. One good thing is some of my recent work has gotten more recognition by fellow artists then I am used to getting on here, which is great of course.

All my SRU friends, what's new? Havn't seen much from anyone there lately... I hope all is well!

Unfortunatly for my I graduated and don't get to go back to school this semester. My artwork production has decreased to a tiresome low... if only my apartment were big enough to set up a small painting studio. I have the ability to do work on here, but all I've wanted to do is paint really big paintings. HUGE paintings. I guess I'm going to have to wait for that.
